Nathan Phillips Square Revitalisation Project Green Roof | PLANT Architect, Senior Designer | 2007-2008
This first-place winning competition scheme revitalizes the plaza and podium of Viljo Revell's Toronto City Hall. Increased perimeter vegetation and a new podium level roof garden increases biomass of the site and encourages public occupation of underutilised public space. The 1500 m2 occupiable intensive green roof is designed as a didactic landscape that reflects microclimates on site. Planting height and coloration vary to visually register the levels of sunlight available around the shadows cast by the City Hall Towers. Credits: PLANT Architect Inc. and Shore Tilbe Irwin+Partner
