A series of 'filling tank' models make airflow associated with thermal differntials visible. The physical principle is simple: denser dyed saline water is injected into a model submerged in a freshwater tank, simulating the injection of cold air into a warner environment or (when mirrored) warm air in a colder environment. However, the results start to make principles such as 'thermal asymmetry' (Rahm), 'alliesthesia' (DeDear), and 'thermal delight' (Heschong) both visible and materially tangible. An architecture of buoyancy, thermal plumes, and stratification emerges.
