Prince Edward County Saltboxes
Schematic Design, Phased site plan and house design
Related Project: House on Limekiln Line
The Prince Edward County Saltboxes was a commissioned project for schematic design of a phased site strategy and building designs for a drive shed, primary dwelling, future secondary dwelling, and small screened deck. All projects were conceived of as sitting lightly on the land and drawing from local agricultural building forms and materials. Buildings are organised around a courtyard with perimeter decking and central wildflower garden. The saltbox roof pop-outs focus views on the undulating landscape beyond. Several low-carbon construction methods and material systems--ranging from prefabrication, to hempcrete, to clt--were considered for the project.
